This vintage Japanese tetsubin (鉄瓶) is a finely crafted iron kettle designed specifically for sencha (煎茶) preparation. Unlike larger kettles used in the chanoyu (tea ceremony), sencha kettles are often more compact, reflecting the refined and relaxed nature of sencha drinking.
The body of this kettle is adorned with delicate floral engravings, adding an elegant touch to its rustic iron form. The intricate detailing highlights the artisan’s skill and the traditional aesthetic sensibilities of Japanese craftsmanship. Over time, the iron develops a rich patina, enhancing both its beauty and character.
Ideal for collectors or tea enthusiasts, this kettle embodies the harmony of function and artistry. Whether displayed as a vintage décor piece or used in tea preparation, it carries the essence of Japan’s deep-rooted tea culture.
