Vintage Japanese Koro Reticulated Porcelain Incense Burner with Removable Inner Cup, Late Showa 1966-1989 | SKU: 26J-0545

A decorative two-piece porcelain incense burner with pierced celadon-toned outer walls, floral openwork, and a warm gilt-toned removable inner cup.

This vintage Japanese incense burner is made in two parts: a cylindrical outer body with pierced openwork and a separate inner cup that fits neatly inside. The outer section is finished in a soft celadon-toned glaze and ornamented with scrolling cutwork and raised floral medallions, while the inner liner has a rich gold-toned glazed finish. A gilt-toned band at the rim and lower register frames the openwork design, and three small feet lift the burner slightly off the surface. The construction and decorative treatment are consistent with Late Showa decorative porcelain.

The open reticulated sides and removable insert suit the form of an incense burner, allowing fragrance to disperse while also giving the piece an elegant sculptural presence when displayed. It works beautifully on a shelf, tea table, or entry console as part of a Japanese ceramics collection, and its compact scale makes it easy to place in a modern interior. The floral piercing and soft color contrast give it both ornamental charm and practical function.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer vintage pieces that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
