Vintage Japanese Incense Burner (SKU 25D-009)
Tripod porcelain koro with guardian fox finial and hand-painted landscape scenes
This vintage Japanese koro (incense burner) stands on three elegant legs and is richly decorated in overglaze enamels. The rounded body is framed by bold, scrolling cartouches and features detailed landscape panels with mountains, pines, and traditional architecture, evoking classic Nihonga-style scenery. Deep teal, aubergine, and iron-red tones contrast beautifully against the warm ivory ground, giving the piece strong visual presence on an altar, tokonoma, or display shelf.
The pierced lid is topped with a charming fox-like guardian figure, while the twin side handles curl upward in stylized animal forms, adding sculptural interest. Inside sits a removable inner cup with cut-out vents, designed to hold charcoal or cone incense and diffuse fragrance gently through the openwork dome. Both decorative and functional, this Showa-era incense burner brings a refined touch of Japanese craftsmanship to any collection of Asian antiques or tea-ceremony wares.
