Vintage Japanese Kimono Rack (SKU 25D-123)

Elegant black lacquer kimono rack with folding corner form and gilt fern motifs

This vintage ikou kimono rack is crafted in a refined corner configuration, its slim black-lacquered frame designed to sit lightly in the room while giving full presence to the garment it displays. The gently upturned ends of the top rail echo the eaves of a traditional Japanese roof, while a series of small metal hooks beneath provide practical hanging points for obi or accessories.

Along the lower panels, delicate sprays of ferns are rendered in fine gilt decoration, adding a quiet seasonal accent typical of Meiji and Taishō taste. Hinged at the center so it can fold slightly around a corner or screen, this vintage Japanese kimono rack offers both sculptural presence and functional display for vintage kimono, textiles, or contemporary garments.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
