A quietly sculptural haku-yu stoneware vessel with a soft white-glazed surface, dark glazed interior, and original tomobako storage box.

This vintage Japanese stoneware vessel is formed in a low torus shape, with a broad rounded body and a single circular opening at the top. The exterior is finished in a smooth white glaze consistent with haku-yu, while the interior presents a dark glossy glaze that creates a striking contrast when viewed from above. The underside shows an unglazed footed base with visible throwing marks and a stamped seal at center. The accompanying tomobako adds a traditional presentation suitable for collectors of Japanese studio ceramics.

Its restrained silhouette gives it a strong sculptural presence whether displayed on a shelf, alcove, or tabletop.
