This vintage Japanese andon lantern updates a classic floor lamp form with mid-20th century Showa sensibility. A rich vermilion-red wooden frame supports four shoji-style panels, whose translucent paper diffuses the light into a warm, ambient glow reminiscent of traditional washi screens. The gently arched handle and clean grid muntins give the piece an elegant, architectural presence even when unlit.

Converted for electric use, the lantern features an interior socket with a pull-chain switch, allowing it to function as a practical table or floor accent lamp while preserving its original character. The removable shade section makes bulb changes simple, and subtle age marks to the lacquer and paper add authentic patina without distracting from its overall refined appearance.
