Vintage Japanese Altar Table, 1960s, Showa Era (SKU 25D-090-1)
Showa-era butsudan stand with richly carved gilt floral panels and black lacquer top.
This vintage Japanese altar table, or butsudan dai, features an elegant low form with a glossy black lacquer top framed in gilt. The apron is lavishly carved with scrolling chrysanthemums and foliage, highlighted in warm gold that catches the light beautifully against the darker surfaces.
Raised on cloud-form legs and an open base, the piece has the refined yet decorative character typical of mid-Showa Buddhist furnishings. Originally used to elevate ritual objects or a small shrine, it now makes a striking display stand for incense burners, okimono, or treasured ceramics in either a traditional tokonoma or modern interior.
