Vintage Japanese 6-Panel Reed Room Divider Screen, Heisei (1990-2018) | SKU: 24M-931

A warm and textural Six-panel room divider crafted with reed infill and wood framing -- an easy architectural accent for Japandi, boho, or natural-material interiors.

This vintage Japanese screen is designed as a freestanding room divider with Four narrow hinged panels that can be arranged in a zigzag formation. Each panel is filled with closely set vertical reed or bamboo canes bound with horizontal stitching, creating a light-filtering surface with rich natural texture. Darker horizontal slats reinforce one side of the panels, while the opposite side presents a cleaner, more minimal face with lighter wood crosspieces. The frame is made of straight-grained wood in a warm honey-brown tone, and the panels are joined with small decorative metal hinges that allow the screen to fold compactly when not in use. The overall effect is airy, practical, and sculptural at once.

In today's home, this divider works beautifully for zoning open-plan interiors, adding privacy to a dressing area, or softening a corner with organic texture. It can be used in a bedroom, living room, studio, or office where a flexible partition is needed without the heaviness of a solid wall. The woven cane-and-wood construction pairs naturally with linen, rattan, tatami, and light-toned woods, making it a versatile decorative and functional screen for calm, layered spaces.

A flexible vintage Japanese screen that brings natural texture, warmth, and functional separation to modern interiors.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer vintage pieces that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
