Vintage Japanese Panels Screen Divider (SKU 25D-053)
Showa-era bamboo sudare screen with carved wooden base panels
This vintage Japanese four-panel screen divider is crafted in the manner of a traditional sudare, with closely set bamboo slats framed by warm-toned softwood. The upper rails are accented with natural bamboo poles, giving the piece a light, airy presence that recalls summer interiors in classic Japanese homes and ryokan.
Along the lower section, each panel is finished with solid wood stretchers featuring charming cut-out motifs, adding a subtle decorative rhythm when the screen is partially folded. Hinged metal joints allow the divider to stand freely in a gentle zigzag, making it ideal for creating an intimate corner, softening an entryway, or adding a textural backdrop to a tatami room or contemporary space.
