A set of five white glazed leaf-form meimei-zara, presented in a signed wooden tomobako.
This set includes five individual serving plates shaped as softly modeled leaves, each with gently scalloped edges, raised vein details, and a small stem-like point. Their shallow, open form suits them beautifully to use as meimei-zara—small personal plates set before each guest for wagashi, small seasonal servings, or side dishes in a traditional Japanese table setting. The accompanying wooden box is inscribed 銘々皿 (meimei-zara), and also includes 出石焼, indicating Izushi ware.
The plates are finished in a glossy white glaze that highlights their sculptural leaf contours and clean, understated presence. In a contemporary home, they work equally well for sweets, small appetizers, condiments, or as elegant catchall dishes for jewelry and other small objects. Their simple organic form blends easily with minimalist, Japandi, and wabi-sabi inspired interiors.
A graceful set of Japanese serving plates that brings a refined seasonal touch to the table.
We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.
All vintage items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
