The upper section is enclosed by a removable kendon buta panel that lifts out, revealing an interior fitted with two shelves that create three open compartments. Below, a single pull-out drawer provides additional enclosed storage and is fitted with a shaped iron handle. The front panel bears bold hand-brushed characters, while the darkened exterior finish and visible wear give the piece a strong sense of age and everyday use. Sized for small belongings, papers, tools, or personal effects, it is a functional example of compact Japanese wooden storage from the Taisho period (1912-1926).
