Description

This vintage Japanese bamboo jizai kagi features a beautifully crafted lever in the shape of Daikokuten’s mallet (Uchide no Kozuchi), a symbol of prosperity and good fortune in Japanese folklore. Traditionally used as an adjustable hearth hook, the jizai kagi was an essential element in Japanese homes, allowing the height of a kettle or pot to be adjusted over an irori (sunken hearth).

Made of aged bamboo and wood, this piece embodies both functionality and craftsmanship, reflecting the rustic charm of traditional Japanese interiors. A rare and auspicious find, it serves as both a practical tool and a decorative piece with cultural significance.
