Antique Japanese Two Section Cha Tansu Tea Chest With And Persimmon Hikido Sliding Doors And Simplified Pull Drawers, Glass (SKU 25D-C002)

Elegant Taishō-era cha tansu with persimmon-veneered hikidō and refined, simplified drawer pulls

This two-section Japanese cha tansu was designed as the focal tea chest in a traditional chashitsu or ryōtei, combining practical storage with the quiet drama of richly figured wood. The upper case features beautifully framed persimmon wood hikidō sliding doors and a long top compartment, while the open central bay showcases asymmetric display shelves for tea utensils or seasonal flower arrangements.

Below, a work surface and lower cabinet with simplified pull drawers offer organized storage for chadōgu, ceramics, and serving ware. The warm, dark-stained grain, softly rounded edges, and subtle carved details give this cha tansu a calm, architectural presence that suits both a Japanese-inspired interior and a modern eclectic space.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
