Antique Japanese Ko Tansu Small Chest With Hikido Sliding Door With Two Warabite Pull Drawers, Taisho Era (SKU 25D-G429)
Compact Taisho-era style ko tansu with classic hikido doors and twin warabite pull drawers
This charming antique Japanese ko tansu embodies the understated elegance of early 20th-century storage chests. Crafted in warm-toned kiri (paulownia) wood with simple frame-and-panel construction, it features a pair of smooth-running hikido sliding doors above two well-proportioned drawers, creating a versatile piece that sits beautifully on the floor, atop a larger tansu, or on a sideboard.
The drawers are fitted with traditional iron warabite pulls, their gently curved silhouette adding a subtle decorative accent against the clean lines of the case. Natural grain, small knots, and age-softened edges give the chest an inviting patina, making it ideal for storing tea ware, writing tools, or everyday essentials while introducing authentic Japanese folk interior character to any space.
