Antique Japanese Merchant Box (23O-255)
This is an antique Japanese merchant box from Middle Meiji period ( 1880's - 1890's). It was constructed out of beautiful Zelkova (Keyaki) wood.
Most likely used by a merchant since strong wood and heavy iron metal were used so it is stable to carry money, paper that were used for daily business record keeping. It is perfect to organize stationery on your desk at office.
