A charming Meiji-period kakesuzuri ink box crafted from lightweight and durable kiri wood (paulownia). Designed for calligraphers and scholars, this portable writing chest features three functional drawers—two small upper drawers for brushes and tools, and a larger lower drawer with an iron handle.

The top lid opens on original iron hinges, revealing an additional storage compartment for paper, inkstone, or writing essentials.
