Antique Japanese Mizuya Kitchen Chest — 1920s, Taisho Era (SKU: 25M-E312)
Where Form Meets Function in Timeless Harmony
This beautifully preserved mizuya tansu from the Taisho era is a striking example of Japanese kitchen cabinetry at its finest. Crafted from richly toned wood and featuring large glass sliding panels, this piece was designed not only to organize, but to display — turning everyday utensils and wares into part of the décor. The natural patina of the wood and clarity of the glass give it a quiet dignity that speaks of daily life in old Japan.
The upper and lower sections offer generous shelving behind wide-panel glass doors, while the base includes four spacious drawers adorned with traditional iron handles. Designed to sit against the wall in a kitchen or tea-serving area, this tansu offers a warm, structured aesthetic — equally at home in a rustic country setting or a minimalist modern interior.
