Taisho-era bamboo hanakago with a graceful twisted handle and rich aged patina
This antique Japanese flower basket, or hanakago, shows the refined handwork associated with Taisho-era decorative bamboo arts. The dark woven body, accented by warm brown striping and a carved bamboo handle mount, gives the piece a quietly rustic presence well suited to ikebana display.
Its compact form and open upper weave create a striking silhouette from every angle, while the sturdy construction reflects practical craftsmanship as much as aesthetic balance. A beautiful example of traditional Japanese basketry, it brings texture, depth, and history to any collection or floral arrangement.
A soulful antique piece that adds authentic Japanese character to any interior or floral composition.
We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.
All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
