Taisho-era bamboo hanakago with a graceful twisted handle and rich aged patina

This antique Japanese flower basket, or hanakago, shows the refined handwork associated with Taisho-era decorative bamboo arts. The dark woven body, accented by warm brown striping and a carved bamboo handle mount, gives the piece a quietly rustic presence well suited to ikebana display.

Its compact form and open upper weave create a striking silhouette from every angle, while the sturdy construction reflects practical craftsmanship as much as aesthetic balance.
