Vintage Japanese Water Pot, Showa Era (SKU 25D-180-6)

Showa-era mizusashi with soft celadon glaze and hand-brushed ink-grey decoration

This vintage Japanese water pot, or mizusashi, presents a refined celadon-toned glaze delicately overlaid with hand-drawn ink-grey lines. The restrained palette highlights the elegant barrel form and the subtle crackle of the glaze, giving the piece a quiet, meditative presence ideal for the tea room or a minimalist interior.

Vertical brushwork around the foot and scrolling motifs through the body evoke classical Chinese-inspired designs, while the dark, unglazed stoneware base and impressed potter’s seal speak to its studio craftsmanship of the Showa era. The simple black lacquered lid completes the silhouette, making this mizusashi both a practical vessel and a beautifully balanced display piece.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
