Vintage Japanese Hanging Ikebana Vase, 1920s (SKU 25D-181-5)
Slender sculptural ikebana vase with natural, bamboo-inspired form
This tall, narrow Japanese vase is hand-formed in the manner of a split bamboo stalk, its softly twisted body rising in warm gradations of earthy browns and charcoal firing marks. The mouth is sharply cut on a diagonal and finished in a rich reddish slip, framing the single opening for a stem in the wabi-sabi spirit of Nageire-style ikebana.
Presented with its original signed kiri tomobako storage box, this piece reflects the understated aesthetics of early 20th-century studio pottery, ideal for a tokonoma alcove or contemporary minimalist interior. Its organic silhouette and subtle wood-fired character make it a refined accent for tea ceremony, seasonal chabana, or as a stand-alone objet d’art.
