Vintage Japanese Vase (SKU 25D-332-2-7)

Heisei-era studio pottery with expressive drip-glaze over warm red clay

Thrown in a rounded, bottle-like silhouette, this vintage Japanese vase showcases the quiet strength of unglazed red stoneware contrasted with generous streams of milky white and olive ash glaze. The clay body is left largely exposed, giving a tactile, earthy presence that recalls classic mingei (folk craft) aesthetics while feeling distinctly contemporary.

The thick, fluid glaze cascades from the shoulder in organic rivulets, each run capturing the motion of the kiln fire and ensuring no two viewpoints are the same. Presented with its signed wooden tomobako storage box, this Heisei-period piece is ideal as a compact flower vase for seasonal ikebana or as a sculptural accent in a wabi-sabi inspired interior.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
