Vintage Japanese Vase, 1990s, Heisei Era (SKU 25D-272-2)
Heisei-era yakishime stoneware vase with natural kiln-fired patina and original signed tomobako
This slender Japanese vase is a handsome example of yakishime high-fired stoneware from late 20th-century Japan. Its tall cylindrical body rises to a softly flared lip, the surface bearing warm earthen tones that shift from iron-rich browns to ember-like reds, created by the flame path within the kiln rather than applied glaze.
Subtle side lugs recall classical storage forms, while patches of natural ash deposit and vitrified drips add depth and individuality to the piece. Presented with its original signed wooden tomobako, this vase is ideal for a single seasonal stem in the spirit of ikebana, or as a sculptural accent that captures the quiet wabi-sabi of the Heisei era.
