This elegant vintage Japanese vase is thrown in a rounded, near-spherical form with a small, straight neck and warm sand-colored clay body. Across the surface, a flock of graceful cranes (tsuru) is hand-painted in soft whites and greys, their red crowns and dark tail feathers picked out in fine detail against the matte ceramic ground. The composition evokes a tranquil sky, with the birds rising in formation as if caught mid-flight.

A radiant gold circular moon balances the design, adding a subtle metallic sheen that catches the light and recalls traditional Nihonga painting. Gentle blue wave motifs at the base suggest water, completing a classic auspicious scene symbolizing longevity, fidelity, and good fortune.
