Vintage Japanese Vase (SKU 25D-143-2)
Showa-era openwork ceramic vase with ivory glaze
This vintage Japanese vase features an elegant baluster silhouette finished in a warm ivory glaze with fine kan-nyu (crackle) throughout. Around the shoulder, the body is intricately carved in sukashi-bori openwork, forming swirling foliage and floral motifs that allow light to pass through the pierced walls.
Likely produced in the late Showa period, it reflects the era’s blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern interior sensibilities. Display it as a sculptural objet on a tokonoma or shelf, or use it as a poetic cover for a small LED candle to cast delicate shadows through the latticework.
