This is a traditional vintage Japanese Kyodai, wooden lacquered vanity / make-up chest from Taisho period (1910's-1920's).
This Kyodai is called Hime Kyodai, Hime means princess, so it is often used for girl / woman, comes in red, oval mirror with multiple drawers.
Originally for use in Japan, one would kneel in front of it on a Tatami mat floor. The mirror swivels to adjust the position and removable from the base.
