Vintage Japanese Tiger Statue (SKU 25D-426)

Expressive Shōwa-era tiger okimono with glass-inset eyes and hand-painted stripes

This dynamic vintage tiger statue captures the fierce energy of the tora, a powerful symbol of courage and protection in Japanese culture. Cast in a warm brown tone and finished with flowing, flame-like stripes, the tiger advances with one paw raised and its long tail arched, giving the piece a strong sense of movement and character.

The finely modelled mane, carved whisker pads and open jaws are complemented by dramatic glass-inset eyes that catch the light, enhancing its presence as a display piece. With its elongated body and stylised patterning typical of early–mid 20th century Japanese décor, this vintage Japanese tiger statue works beautifully as a focal point on a sideboard, tokonoma alcove or curated shelf.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
