Vintage Japanese Jubako Tiered Food Box (SKU 25D-401)
Showa-era lacquered jubako with playful vegetable motifs and original kiri-wood tomobako
This vintage Japanese tiered food box, or jubako, is finished in a deep black lacquer and decorated with charming vegetable designs in gold and vermilion. The crisp silhouettes of daikon and other produce stand out beautifully against the glossy surface, evoking the abundance of the Japanese table and the aesthetics of mid-Showa domestic life.
Comprising three stacking layers and a fitted lid, this jubako is ideal for serving osechi ryori, picnics, or as an elegant storage piece. It comes housed in its signed softwood tomobako (storage box), whose calligraphy identifies it as a tiered box, underscoring its quality and care in preservation.
