Vintage Japanese Jubako Tiered Food Box, Showa Era (SKU 25D-484)
Showa-era circular jubako in bold vermilion and brushed gold bands
This vintage Japanese tiered food box, or jubako, features a striking modernist design in glossy vermilion red offset by wide bands of textured gold. The cylindrical form stacks neatly into a compact tower, with each tier finished in the same rich red lacquer tone inside and out for a cohesive, elegant presentation.
Typical of mid-Showa aesthetics, the piece blends traditional celebration ware with a sleek, almost minimalist sensibility, making it equally at home on a New Year’s osechi table or as a stylish bento and snack box for contemporary entertaining. When not in use, it becomes a sculptural accent that adds a warm, festive glow to any interior.
