Vintage Japanese Sword Stand (SKU 25D-160)

Showa-era black lacquer katana stand with shimmering raden (mother-of-pearl) landscape inlay

This elegant vintage katanakake presents a deep black lacquer ground richly decorated with raden mother-of-pearl inlay. Across the front panel, two robed figures stroll beneath drifting clouds and birds, framed by a sweeping pine tree and distant hillside, the shell catching the light in iridescent blues and greens. Small floral crests punctuate the uprights and base, adding a refined, symmetrical rhythm to the design.

Crafted to display a single Japanese sword, this Showa-period stand combines practical function with traditional artistry. The gently curved supports cradle the blade, while the scenic panel evokes classic yamato-e landscapes, making it equally suitable as a focal point in a samurai collection or as a distinctive accent on a shelf or tokonoma.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
