Vintage Japanese Lantern, Stone (SKU 25D-362-4)

Showa-era granite tōrō with crisply carved windows for a classic Japanese garden ambiance.

This vintage Japanese stone lantern, or tōrō, features a hexagonal light chamber with finely carved lattice windows beneath a broad, gently sloping roof. The natural granite shows a soft, weathered patina with traces of moss, giving it the quiet dignity associated with mid-20th century Showa-era garden ornaments.

Designed to be assembled in stacked sections, this lantern is ideal as a focal point beside a pond, pathway, or entry to a tea garden. Its geometric carving, subtle wave motifs on the base, and authentic surface aging make it a versatile piece for both traditional Japanese garden design and refined contemporary landscapes.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
