Vintage Japanese Small Drawer (SKU 25D-233)

Showa-era inspired komono tansu in deep persimmon red with hand-painted floral roundels.

This compact chest of drawers captures the warmth of mid-Showa Japanese interiors with its rounded corners, rich vermilion-brown lacquer tone, and charming floral crests. The front is decorated with stylised roses and seasonal blossoms arranged in circular medallions, recalling traditional mon family crests while lending a playful, almost stained-glass feel to the piece.

Four smoothly sliding drawers provide practical storage, with the top drawer divided for small accessories or stationery and the lower drawers left open for textiles, documents, or everyday komono (small items). Simple metal pulls and a subtly figured wood grain under the lacquer give this vintage Japanese small drawer unit an understated elegance that works equally well beside a bed, in an entryway, or as a compact tansu in a modern apartment.
