Vintage Japanese Small Drawer, Showa Era (SKU 25D-357)

Showa-era style kozuchi-urushi cabinet with carved floral door and multi-drawer storage

This compact Japanese chest combines the warmth of dark red-brown lacquer with a bold, hand-carved floral motif on the door panel. The surfaces are finished in a hammered-style texture reminiscent of urushi work, catching the light in soft facets while giving the piece a distinctly vintage Showa-period presence.

Three smooth-running drawers, a small side cupboard, and an open upper shelf make this an ideal bedside tansu, chabako-style tea storage, or entryway organizer for everyday essentials. Subtle metal pulls and a petite door handle complete the design, offering practical storage in a footprint suited to modern interiors while preserving classic Japanese character.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
