Vintage Japanese Lacquered Small Drawer With Gold Family Crests "Kamon" - 1940s Showa Era (25D-254-1)

Black lacquer ko-tansu with gold family crests and brass ring pulls

This compact vintage Japanese small drawer chest is finished in deep black lacquer and richly decorated with an array of gold-toned kamon (family crests). Circular motifs of lotus, bamboo, pine and other auspicious designs are scattered across the front and sides, creating a lively yet harmonious pattern that catches the light against the dark ground. Two drawers slide smoothly and are fitted with traditional round metal plates and ring pulls, subtly engraved with floral details.

Likely used as a desktop ko-dansu or accessory chest, this piece brings the quiet elegance of the Showa-era home to a modern interior. The gently worn lacquer, small edge nicks and mellowed metalwork speak to decades of careful use, giving it the soft patina collectors prize.
