Vintage Japanese Small Drawer, 1940s, Showa Era (SKU 25D-221)

Compact four-drawer Showa-era tansu-style chest with glass knobs and warm aged patina.

This vintage Japanese small drawer chest evokes the modest elegance of mid-20th century Showa interiors. Crafted in a simple tansu style, the casework shows a rich, gently aged brown finish, contrasted by lighter natural wood interiors that highlight the grain each time a drawer is opened.

Four equal drawers provide practical storage for stationery, craft tools, tea utensils, or accessories, while hexagonal glass pulls add a subtle sparkle to the otherwise understated design. Its vertical, space-saving form makes it ideal on a desk, sideboard, or tokonoma shelf as a functional accent of Japanese vintage charm.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
