Vintage Japanese Kobako Small Drawer, Showa Era (SKU 25D-027)

Showa-era ko-dansu drawer with beautiful tiger-grain veneer and classic brass pulls

This compact vintage drawer comes from a Japanese ko-dansu (small chest), showcasing a richly figured wood grain that instantly recalls mid-Showa interiors. The warm amber-brown finish highlights the dramatic, almost tiger-stripe patterning, while the edges and joints reveal the honest craftsmanship of traditional cabinet work.

Fronted with a pair of gently arched metal warabite-style handles, this piece works beautifully as a desktop organizer, display accent, or as a replacement drawer for a period tansu. Its modest scale and strong graphic grain make it an easy addition to both wabi-sabi and modern minimalist spaces.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
