Showa-era carved wooden tansu-style small chest with rich vermilion lacquer and floral motif

This vintage Japanese kamakura style small box evokes a miniature tansu, its vertical form fitted with five smoothly sliding drawers for organizing jewelry, writing tools, or cherished keepsakes. The surface is finished in a deep, almost black-brown lacquer, over which a warm vermilion tone softly emerges from the hand-chiseled texture, giving the piece a quietly luxurious presence on a desk, dresser, or alcove shelf.
