Vintage Japanese Haribako Sewing Box (SKU 25D-025)

Showa-era wooden itomono-bako with multiple drawers and lift-top storage

This vintage Japanese sewing box, or itomono-bako, is crafted in warm-toned hardwood with a striking tiger-grain pattern that catches the light across the front and sides. Designed as a compact chest, it offers an elegant arrangement of drawers accented with small green pulls, giving the piece a subtle mid-century Showa charm.

The hinged top lifts to reveal a long compartment and a removable divided tray, ideal for threads, needles, and small tools, while the graduated drawers below provide practical storage for fabrics, notions, or jewelry. Equally suited as a functional sewing box or as a small kodansu for desk or dresser organization, it brings an authentic Japanese vintage presence to any interior.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
