Vintage Japanese Koro Incense Burner (SKU 25D-295-2)
Showa-era style bronze koro with intricate sea-creature relief and rich red-brown patina
This is a small Japanese kōro (incense burner), cast in bronze with a deep, mottled reddish-brown patina. Resting on three scrolling feet, the rounded body is adorned in high relief with finely modeled crustaceans, their legs and antennae wrapping elegantly around the surface in classic Japanese naturalistic style.
The removable pierced lid, worked in an organic wave-like motif, allows incense smoke to drift gently through its openings, making it ideal for use in a tokonoma alcove, tea room, or contemplative interior. A maker’s mark is cast into the base, further enhancing its appeal for collectors of Showa-era Japanese bronze art and traditional incense utensils.
