This vintage Japanese red lacquer medicine box from the Meiji era features a lid and a side drawer. The front and back are inscribed with "商标,赤丸, 登录,总元祖大丸屋,定洲,东京,日本桥香崎町,Trademark, Red Pill, Registered, Founder Daimaruya, Teishu, Tokyo, Nihonbashi Kōzakichō" and adorned with a cross marking inlaid with mother of pearl. The side of the box has a pull-out drawer.
