Vintage Japanese Tokkuri Style Pot (SKU 25D-349-1)

Soft celadon-glazed tokuri-style pot with beautiful aged crazing

This vintage Japanese pot features a gently swelling body that rises to a narrow neck and flared lip, recalling the elegant silhouette of a traditional tokuri sake bottle. The surface is covered in a pale grey-white celadon glaze, its quiet tone enlivened by a fine network of crazing that has developed over time, giving the piece a softly weathered, wabi-sabi character.

Likely produced in the mid-Showa era, this simple yet refined vessel would have served as a practical everyday container, now reimagined as a sculptural accent for contemporary interiors. Display it on its own, grouped with other Showa-era ceramics, or use it as a small flower vase to highlight its understated Japanese minimalism.

  • Origin: Japan
  • Era: Showa period, mid-20th century (circa 1950s)
  • Material: Glazed stoneware ceramic
  • Use: Formerly a utilitarian storage or sake vessel; now ideal as a decorative pot or flower vase
  • Features: Subtle celadon glaze, allover crackle crazing, rounded tokuri-style form, flared rim, visible kiln specks and firing marks adding authentic vintage character
  • Dimensions: 8 1/2" Diameter x 12 1/2"H
  • Condition: Very good vintage condition with minor glaze wear, small firing imperfections, and age-appropriate crazing; small chip and roughness to foot rim consistent with use

A quietly expressive Showa-era ceramic, perfect for adding an authentic Japanese accent to any space.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
