This vintage Japanese picnic lunch box set features four square jubako tiers housed in a hinged wooden frame that closes into a compact cabinet for travel. Each removable box is finished in a different lacquer pattern— "Bekko-nuri" tortoiseshell-style vermilion, "Tsugaru-nuri" mottled green, "Wakasa-nuri" warm brown, and a finely speckled "Nashiji Maki-e"—creating a richly layered presentation when stacked inside the black-lacquered stand.

The outer case is decorated in a vivid red and gold textured lacquer, with metal clasp and handle for carrying to hanami, picnic, or New Year gatherings. Inside, the boxes are finished in traditional vermilion, ideal for serving seasonal dishes or sweets.
