Vintage Japanese Fukuro Obi For Kimono, Showa Era (SKU 25M-547-8)
Showa-era fukuro obi with auspicious wagon and floral motifs in rich brocade
This vintage Japanese obi is woven in a luxurious kinran-style brocade, featuring layered motifs of gosho-guruma (imperial ox carts), stylised flowers and traditional textile patterns on a soft ivory ground. Metallic threads catch the light across the surface, giving the piece a refined shimmer typical of mid-Showa formal wear.
Likely made as a fukuro obi for formal kimono, it now lends itself beautifully to interior display, textile collecting, or creative reuse in cushions, runners and framed art. The dense weave, crisp patterning and classic colour palette of red, green, gold and indigo make this an elegant example of post-war Japanese craftsmanship.
