Vintage Japanese Fuuro Obi For Kimono (SKU 25M-547-4)

Showa-era fukuro obi with auspicious cart, floral, and geometric motifs in rich brocade

This vintage Japanese obi showcases an opulent brocade on a soft ivory ground, woven with a lively medley of traditional motifs. Stylised floral clusters reminiscent of chrysanthemum and peony, paired with geometric hexagons and cord-tied forms, create a celebratory pattern that recalls formal fukuro obi worn for weddings and festive occasions in mid-20th-century Japan.

Metallic gold thread highlights and saturated reds, greens, and purples lend depth and movement, while the dense weave gives the textile a luxurious, slightly sculpted surface. Beautiful draped over a tansu, displayed on a textile hanger, or repurposed for cushions and framing, this Showa-period obi brings authentic Japanese elegance and color to any interior.
