Vintage Japanese Fukuro Obi For Kimono, Showa Era (SKU 25M-547-3)
Showa-era fukuro obi with auspicious crane and floral motifs in luminous gold brocade
This vintage Japanese obi is a richly woven fukuro obi from the mid-Showa period, crafted in a soft ivory ground and lavishly accented with metallic gold threads. The design features an elegant tsuru (crane) poised among stylised chrysanthemums, pines, and seasonal blossoms, symbolising longevity, prosperity, and celebration in Japanese textile tradition.
The dense nishijin-style weaving and raised brocade give the surface a luxurious texture that catches the light beautifully, making it ideal for display as a wall hanging, table runner, or for creative upcycling into obi-inspired interior decor. Its harmonious palette of cream, gold, green, and warm autumnal tones lends a timeless, formal elegance to both traditional and contemporary spaces.
