Vintage Japanese Fukuro Obi For Kimono, Showa Era (SKU 25M-547-2)
Showa-era fukuro obi with fan motifs and woven metallic highlights
This vintage Japanese obi features an elegant all-over pattern of open and closed sensu (folding fans) arranged across a soft, light-gold ground. Each fan is densely brocaded with seasonal flowers, geometric kikkō hexagons, and auspicious motifs in rich shades of crimson, moss green, ivory, and indigo, accented by shimmering metallic threads that catch the light beautifully.
Likely woven as a formal fukuro obi during the mid-Showa period, this piece would have been paired with a festive kimono for weddings, celebrations, or New Year wear. Today it is equally suited to traditional dress or creative reuse—its refined patterning makes a striking textile for display, obi belts, or upcycled interior accents.
