Vintage Japanese Fukuro Obi For Kimono, 1950s, Showa Era (SKU 25M-547-1)
Showa-era fukuro obi with elegant fan and seasonal motif weaving
This vintage Japanese obi features a richly brocaded landscape of open fans, floral roundels, and stylised garden scenes, woven in soft ivory, gold, persimmon, and moss green. The intricate patterning recalls classic yūzen and rinpa aesthetics, with pines, pavillions, and chrysanthemums arranged in overlapping fan cartouches that flow rhythmically along the length of the sash.
Likely made as a formal fukuro obi for festive occasions, this piece displays the lustrous sheen and fine detail typical of mid-Showa weaving. Beautiful draped over a tansu, hung as a textile panel, or repurposed for interior projects, it offers an authentic touch of Japanese kimono culture while preserving the quiet patina of age.
