Showa-era tansu-style standing mirror with carved floral lacquer base
This vintage Japanese mirror combines the clean vertical lines of mid-Showa design with the warmth of traditional lacquerwork. A tall rectangular glass plate rises from a compact storage base, recalling the slim silhouette of a modernist kyou-dai (dressing mirror) while remaining practical for everyday use in a bedroom, entryway, or boutique setting.
The base is finished in a deep, almost black red-brown lacquer, patterned with a repeating hexagonal motif and accented by a bold carved peony on the lower drawer front. Simple brass knobs and light wood drawer interiors add contrast, giving this piece the quiet presence of a small tansu chest and making it an elegant solution for storing cosmetics, accessories, or keys beneath a full-length reflective surface.
A refined Showa-era accent that brings both functional storage and quietly dramatic Japanese lacquer artistry to your space.
We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.
All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
