Compact Showa-era ko tansu with richly grained wood and ornate floral kanagu ironwork.
This vintage Japanese ko tansu (small chest) presents a warm, honey-toned carcass with striking grain, framed by bold black iron fittings. The front is organized in classic sendai-dansu style, with graduated drawers above a small hinged door, creating a practical yet highly decorative storage piece ideal for an entryway, living room, or tokonoma display.
Elaborate floral kanagu hardware, including circular peony-style medallions and a pierced round plate on the door, adds depth and texture against the smooth wood. Multiple drawers glide cleanly, the side compartment opens to a generous interior, and a working key is present, making this chest both a functional organizer and a characterful accent for Japanese-inspired or eclectic interiors.
A finely detailed ko tansu that brings authentic Showa-era craftsmanship and refined floral ironwork to any space.
We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.
All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
