Vintage Japanese Lacquer Box — Wood, 1980, Showa Era (SKU: 25M-513-1)
Urushi “Kamon” Lacquer Trinket Box — Black & Vermilion, 1980s, Shōwa
Clan crests glowing through midnight lacquer
Three bold kamon (family crests) emerge in vermilion against a deep midnight ground, achieved through repeated layers of hand-polished urushi. The low rectangular form recalls a pocket natsume yet opens to reveal a velvet-dark well for earbuds, mala beads, or business cards. Red underlayers peek along the edges—an intentional tsuya-dashi technique that makes the box feel alive in shifting light.
