Vintage Japanese Koro Incense Holder (SKU 25D-017-3)
Glazed tripod koro with calligraphy and pierced lotus-lid design
This compact Japanese koro (incense burner) is finished in a beautiful flowing glaze that graduates from moss green to soft indigo, evoking distant mountain ridges in mist. The rounded body rests on three small feet and is accented with hand-brushed calligraphy, giving the piece the quiet presence of a scholar’s desk object.
The domed lid is pierced in a stylised lotus pattern to gently diffuse the fragrance of incense cones or a small bed of loose kōdō ash. Inside, the unglazed ceramic chamber and removable inner grate are practical for regular use, while the original wooden tomobako-style box makes this vintage Showa-era koro equally suited to display in a tokonoma, tearoom, or modern interior.
